ABOUT CLAY: The clay you will use, and there might be plenty of use especially for large clay models, doesn’t have to be the same quality for making pots. I keep a supply of what I call TRASH CLAY on hand. It is clay that has been used with plaster before and generally clay I end up with in the studio that is not top quality anymore.

ABOUT PLASTER: This stuff is of use to us because it absorbs moisture efficiently. Make sure the purchased bags are not torn or opened. Ask questions about when it was delivered. Purchase from a supplier who understands it can't be allowed to sit around forever before it is sold. Store it in a very dry place. I seal each 50lb bag in a garbage bag til I need it. Close the bag carefully between uses.

ABOUT PLASTER IN THE SINK: A major mistake. It can and will wreck the plumbing. Have on hand buckets of water to use to clean all tools, hands, etc before washing in sink.
